A space to examine, to explore, and to discover new worlds |
Every student visits the library with their class once weekly. For students in kindergarten through second grade, we share stories and songs, engage in whole-group discussions, participate in fun literature-related activities, practice how to use the library, and dive into great new books.
Students in grades three through five participate in formal lessons in which they are taught various digital and library location skills. They acquire and hone research capabilities, including how to use databases, organize information, and create citations. They are taught what call numbers mean, how the library is organized, and how to find what they're looking for. Most importantly, they learn to use information ethically, which will be crucial as they move into middle and high school, as well as collegiate study. |
